Program Faciltator

Department: Program 10 Month
Location: Occidental, CA

Title: Program Facilitator

Employment Status: Seasonal (April – November), Onsite Housing Available.

Team: Program Team

Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Program Director

Team Lead: Assistant Program Director

Purpose Statement

To facilitate program activities throughout the year, and to instruct 5th - 8th grade students through fostering a learning environment in the outdoors, allowing students and guests to have new experiences and opportunity for growth.

Support other ARCG teams as we strive together to serve the needs of ARCG guests.

Description of Duties

  • Facilitate various programs Challenge Courses, Nature Hikes and Rec Activities.
  • Instruct 5th - 8thth grade students during the early Fall and late Spring in nature and ecology through classes that involve forest, water, and ecosystem ecology.
  • Participate in Christian Outdoor Education programmed chapel times.
  • On the job training and participation in workshops with other program facilitators to expand the teaching and learning experience.
  • Serve guests in Sonoma Zipline Adventures. This includes guiding, driving, and checking guests in.
  • Serve guests in the Front Office/Coffee Central area. This includes answering phones, computer data entry, gift store duties, and maintaining the hospitality area.
  • Serve other departments as needed, including Accommodations/Housekeeping, Maintenance and Food Services
  • Training provided.

  • Teaching or facilitating experience
  • Physically fit to meet the demands of hiking the trails, and facilitating the various challenge courses
  • Healthy respect for heights and ability to overcome one’s fear of heights
  • Communication skills including phone etiquette and basic computer skills

Requirements

  • Christian actively living a Biblical lifestyle and have an interest in maturing in one’s faith
  • Must be in harmony with ARCG statement of faith and code of conduct
  • Must pass Background Check
  • Completion/pursuing 4-year degree or equivalent experience in a related field (Recreation, Education, Youth Camping Management).
  • Experience in teaching, camps or youth work preferred
  • CPR and First Aid Certified, Lifeguard Certified preferred

Job Type: Temporary / Seasonal, from April through November

Compensation: Salaried, $540.00/week, which includes housing at no additional cost
